Fragmentti TMM21816: TE50492 on löytynyt vuonna 1998 Turun maakuntamuseon kaivauksissa, jotka toteutettiin Åbo Akademin päärakennuksen tontilla. Löytöpaikka oli lannansekainen maakerros, eli vaate on maannut kompostissa 600 vuotta.
Fragmenttiin kuuluu itse asiassa neljä eri tekstiilin palaa. Niistä merkittävin on noin kämmenen kokoinen vetopoimutettu kappale, osa puvun miehustaa. Poimutetun tekstiilin lisäksi on poimuttamaton kappale, joka on ollut kiinni poimutetussa kappaleessa, mutta Heini Kirjavaisen mukaan kappaleet irtosivat toisistaan konservoinnin yhteydessä. Näiden lisäksi fragmenttiin kuuluu kapea riekaleinen suikale, sekä vielä neljäs tekstiili, joka on poimuttamattoman kappaleen päällä. Sitä ei ole irrotettu konservoinnin yhteydessä.
The fragment TMM21816:TE50429 was found in 1998, during the excavations executed by the Provincial Museum at the Åbo Akademi Main Building Site in Turku. It was found in the soil layer, in a compost to be exact, where it had been laying for 600 years.
The fragment is actually four pieces of textiles. The most remarkable of them is about a hand-sized pleated piece, a part of a bodice. There is also an unpleated piece, which has been attached to the pleated one, but according to Heini Kirjavainen, it came loose during the conservation. The third piece is a narrow strip, which is no longer in a recognizable condition. The fourth piece of textile lies on top of the unpleated piece. It has not been removed during conservation.
Vaikka suurin osa vaatteesta puuttuu, fragmentissa on paljon tietoa.
- Tutkimuksella on selvitetty, mitä väriaineita siitä löytyy.
- Kankaasta näkyy, millainen se on ollut.
- Fragmentista näkee, millaisia saumoja vaatteessa on käytetty. Nähtävissä on melko karkeita, mustalla villalangalla tehtyjä yliluottelupistoja. Työn jälki ei ole huoliteltua.
- Vetopoimutuksessa on edelleen nähtävissä painanteita, jotka kulkevat kolmen sentin välein riveinä ja näitä rivejä työstä löytyy viisi.
- Poimutetun kappaleen yläosa on revennyt, eli siitä puuttuu ylin osa. Poimutettu kappale jatkuu kapeana, päärmättynä suikaleena, joka on osin revennyt, mutta siitä näkee, että siinä ei ole saumaa.
- Irrallinen, poimuttamaton kappale on venynyt yläosastaan. Kappale on noin 15 sentin levyinen eikä siinä ole saumaa.
- Kolmas suikale on hajonnut riekaleeksi niin, että siinä ei ole saumoja tai päärmäyksiä näkyvillä.
- Neljäs kappale ei Heini Kirjavaisen arvion mukaan kuulu oletettuun pukuun.
Even if most of the original dress is missing, the fragment contains a lot of information.
- The research has shown what dyes it contains.
- The weave of the fabric is visible.
- The stitches used on the fragment are visible. They are rather big, made with quite a thick black wool yarn, with overcast stitch. The workmanship is not very refined.
- On the pleated part there are traces of what might have been supportive stitches for the pleating. The stitches have disappeared, so they have apparently been made with vegetable fibre thread. The horizontal rows of stitches can be seen every 3 cm. There are 5 rows on the fragment.
- The upper part of the pleated part is torn, so some of it is missing. It continues towards the shoulder line as a narrow, hemmed strap. It has also partially been torn but there is no seam in the middle.
- The loose unpleated part has stretched. The piece is about 15 cm wide and it has no seam in the middle.
- The third piece is so badly torn that there is no hemming or stitches visible.
- According to Heini Kirjavainen, the fourth piece does not belong to this textile.

TE50429: fragmentin löytöpaikka on ollut lannansekainen maakerros, siis komposti. 600 vuodessa kasvikuidut ovat kadonneet. Koko löytö mahtuu A3-arkille.
The find was made on a manure cluttered soil layer, aka compost. In 600 years the vegetable fibres have dissolved. The whole find fits on a A3-sized paper sheet.
The loose strip is no longer recognizable. It might be part of the sleeve.
Olkaimen nurja puoli. Tukevat villapistot näkyvät selvästi, samoin se, että kankaan reunaa ei ole huoliteltu. Nurjan puolen raakareunan hyvä kunto viittaa mielestämme siihen, että ainakin puvun yläosa on ollut vuoritettu.
The reverse side of the shoulder strap. Heavy wool stitches can still be seen clearly, as well as the fact that the raw edge is not hemmed. The rather good shape of the raw edge might mean that at least the bodice was lined.
Poimutusta tukevat ompeleet ovat kadonneet, mutta läheltä tarkasteltuna niiden jättämä jälki näkyy jopa paljaalla silmällä. Kuvassa yksi tällainen rivi näkyy fragmentin alaosassa.
The stitches supporting the pleating have disappeared, but traces of them can still be seen. One of these rows is visible on the lower part of the pleated piece.

Poimutettu kappale ja toinen, poimuttamaton kappale ovat irronneet toisistaan konservoinnin yhteydessä. Heini Kirjavaisen mukaan tämä viittaa siihen, että ne on ommeltu yhteen kasvikuidulla, kuten pellavalla.
Two pieces have come loose during the conservation. According to Heini Kirjavainen, this could mean that they were sewn using a vegetable yarn like linen.
Poimutetusta kappaleesta näkee edelleen erittäin selvästi paksulla villalangalla tehdyt pistot, samoin kankaan kaksivärisyyden. Poimutusta tukevat ompeleet ovat kadonneet, mutta läheltä tarkasteltuna ne ovat edelleen havaittavissa paljaalla silmällä.
The stitches made with a thick wool yarn and the two colours of the fabric can clearly be seen on the pleated piece. The stitches supporting the pleating have disappeared but traces of them can be observed with the naked eye.
